چکیده

Submitted for the MAR05 Meeting of The American Physical Society Topological Singularities and Transport in Kicked Harper Model1 INDUBALA SATIJA, George Mason Univ — Quasienergy spectrum of kicked Harper model is found to exhibit a series of diabolic crossings. These conical degeneracies reside mostly on the symmetry line of its two-dimensional parameter space and their location is found to coincide with the location of maxima of the kinetic energy of the kicked system. Additionally, there are also branch point singularities, the exceptional points, that are associated with avoided crossings and are obtained by analytically continuing the kicking parameter in the complex plane. The location of these singularities also appear to be closely correlated with the maxima and minima of the kinetic energy, suggesting a correlation between the transport and the topological characteristics of the system. 1The research of IIS is supported by National Science Indubala Satija George Mason Univ Date submitted: 01 Dec 2004 Electronic form version 1.4

Submitted for the MAR05 Meeting of The American Physical Society Avalanche dynamics in complex networks BYUNGNAM KAHNG, KWANG-IL GOH, DEOK-SUN LEE, EUN-J LEE, DOOCHUL KIM, Seoul National University — Avalanche dynamics, triggered by small initial perturbation, but spreading to other constitutes successively, is one of intriguing problems in complex systems. Here, we study such dynamics on scale...

Abstract for an Invited Paper for the MAR05 Meeting of The American Physical Society Spin Transport in Organic Semiconductors

for an Invited Paper for the MAR05 Meeting of The American Physical Society Spin Transport in Organic Semiconductors JING SHI, University of Utah Spin injection/detection and coherent transport are necessary ingredients in spin electronics or spintronics. Organic semiconductors are believed to have long spin coherence due to the weak spin-orbit interaction and hyperfine interaction; therefore, ...

Submitted for the MAR05 Meeting of The American Physical Society Interaction of Spin-Transfer Oscillators With AC Currents and Fields M.R. PUFALL, W.H. RIPPARD, S. KAKA, T.J. SILVA, S.E. RUSSEK — We have shown previously that a DC current flowing through a 40 nm point contact made to a spin valve structure induces high frequency, large-angle coherent magnetic precession. The precession frequenc...
